Clearbrook Estate
Within the private estate, which has gates and is fully enclosed are 55 acres of landscaped grounds, ancient woodland, meadows and ponds.
The estate has an acre lake with an island in its midst, an apiary, flock of sheep and friendly dogs.
Clearbrook Lodge and Meadow Cottage holiday homes
The estate is home to Clearbrook Hall, a family home along with Clearbrook Cottages – the former stable block and coach house, now lovingly restored as Clearbrook Lodge and Meadow Cottage, Grade II listed and brimming with character.

Guests are invited to explore the estate’s wildflower meadows and views of Paxton Tower, row across the lake that sits directly behind the cottages, unwind under the stars or dream beside a crackling fire.

Organic Estate Produce
We are very proud of the organic food we produce on the estate. Clearbrook Country Estate supplies both the National Botanic Garden of Wales shop and Wrights Emporium with Clearbrook’s wild flower honey. Alternatively ask Sarn and buy directly from the estate whilst you are enjoying your stay.
We are delighted to say that our delicious organic lamb is soon to be on the menu at a Michelin Star restaurant. Watch this space for further details.
Llanarthne
The village of Llanarthne has ancient castle ruins (Dryslwyn), country walks, an outstanding delicatessen, medieval church, the river Gwynon running through it and the Black Mountain Range, Brecon Beacons and River Tywi encircling it.
Above the village is Paxton’s Tower, a 19th-century folly and tower owned by the Landmark Trust, from where you can see Dryslwyn Castle, Dinefwr Castle, and Carreg Cennan Castle along the Tywi Valley, and Dinefwr Park, the National Trust house and parkland in Llandeilo. Llandeilo itself is famous for its row of colourful houses over the river Towy and its independent shops and galleries.
Llansteffan
A sweet coastal village with beach (dog friendly), castle and sailing club.
National Botanic Gardens
Directly across the road from Clearbrook is Wales National Botanic Gardens, comprised of 500 acres of gardens, Sir Norman Foster designed glasshouse (housing some of the most endangered species on the planet), tropical hot house, original buildings from Middleton Hall, (including the stable block and coach house, kitchens and servants quarter, ice house, and double walled garden), 8 lakes and regency landscaped grounds, meadows and farm land.
Aberglasney Gardens
Local gardens created in the 1600s by the former Bishop of St. David’s (no dogs allowed). It is one of Wales’ finest gardens and has a fully restored Elizabethan cloister garden, the only surviving one of its kind in the UK today as well as being an RHS Partner Garden. It holds regular events.
Tywi Valley Cycle Path
Discover the new 16-mile cycle path connecting Carmarthen and Llandeilo via a traffic-free route following the former railway line along the River Tywi, passing through scenic landscapes and near attractions like the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens including going right through the centre of Llanarthne village. The path is designed to be safe for families.
Golden Grove Fishery
Golden Grove Estate, just half a mile away enjoys some of the very best beats on the River Tywi. Overlooked by romantic ruined castles, the river meanders through the rich pastures of the Tywi Valley. It is a haven for birds and other wildlife and the most stunning place to fish.
Laugharne
A small estuary village that was home to Dylan Thomas, famous Welsh poet and writer for the last four years of his life. He wrote many major pieces here in his Boathouse, still open to the public, including Under Milk Wood.
Pembrokeshire
The county itself starts 26 mins drive west, but it extends all around the south west of Wales. The county has 50+ beaches and 186 miles of coastline and coast path, ranging from the harbours of Tenby and Saundersfoot to the stunningly unspoilt Barafundle Bay and Bosherston Lily Pools, or St. Davids, smallest city in UK (a village really) with celebrated cathedral.
Gower
26 mins drive to our east, and Gower begins. With 25 beaches, ranging from the sweeping sands of Rhossili and Oxwich to the quaint secluded bays of Pwll-du and Fall Bay, this was Britain’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty designation. The coast path is amazing, and Mumbles is a lovely place for lunch.
Brecon Beacons
35 mins drive north is 3rd national park in Wales alongside Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia (in north Wales). Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) is a stunning mountain range including south Wales’ highest mountain Pen y Fan. Offers wide range of walks around peaks, waterfalls, watersports on lakes and rivers and trips on foot, bike, horseback. The 4 Waterfalls Walk in Ystradfellte, Powys (2hrs to 6hrs, depending on route) is stunning.
